Scouting Report
A great college player by anyone's definition, but where will he fit in at the next level? A starting power forward? A role player? A bust? Only time will tell, but wherever Hansbrough ends up, teams should expect a player that goes hard on every play and isn't afraid of diving on the ground to fight for a loose ball. Hansbrough, though, can't be defined as just a hard worker. His resume is unmatched among the players who'll be at Madison Square Garden for draft day. After winning the consensus national player of the year award as a junior when he averaged 22.6 points and 10.2 rebounds, Hansbrough likely would have been a top 15 pick in the 2008 draft, but "Psycho T" passed on the NBA's guaranteed millions to return to Chapel Hill for his senior season. The decision may not end up paying off when he looks at his bank account in a few months, but Hansbrough finished his remarkable college career by helping the Tar Heels win their fifth national championship. Hansbrough, a three-time first-team All-American and the first player to be named first-team All-ACC four times, scored a conference-record 2,872 points, grabbed a school-record 1,219 boards and holds the NCAA all-time mark with 982 made free throws. He has great shooting touch for a big man, but he's not considered to be a great athlete and will no longer be able to take advantage of smaller defenders in the NBA so he could drop to the bottom of the first round.
